Background information on the topics "personality development and self-awareness"
“Who am I and if so, how many?” is a well-known book title. This is what personality development is all about: recognizing one’s own competencies and exploring development potential. The analysis of one’s own self is part of such a personality analysis.
The aim of personality development is to explore professional competencies and strengths as well as their further development. This is necessary in order to consciously pursue a career, to identify positive and negative factors in daily life and to strengthen or change them for the better. The perception of others is helpful, for one’s own habits can only be recognized and named through by an outside eye.
Clear feedback is always constructive because it offers the individual the potential for change. By focusing on possible goals, appropriate future-oriented strategies become visible which help to develop existing skills or to recover missing elements. The self is only one component in personality development, contact with other humans is a further important element for vocational development.
The further the career progresses, the more the theme of human connection becomes the focus of professional activities. In addition to personnel responsibility, responsibility towards externals is another component in the skills profile of managers. In personal development, therefore, trustworthiness and reliability must be visible, as well as assertiveness and steadfastness. In order to be able to implement negative decisions, both toughness and sensitivity are required. Only this makes it possible to be credible and to gain sympathy and support in the long term. If you can communicate this convincingly, you have a well-coordinated ‘inner team’ that acts authentically and truthfully.
Specialists and managers promote their individual development potential in the seminar “Personality Development and Self-awareness” of the Management Institute Dr. A. Kitzmann.
