Case study: Training the next generation of managers
1. Description of the initial situation
The automotive supplier is one of the world's leading companies selling automotive parts to dealers and private customers. A special program in form of a multi-day workshop was designed for future managers. The content focused on leadership, communication, conflict and project management. The main objective was to provide future executives with a scientifically based, but also practice-oriented training.
2. Goal of the customer
The goal of the three-day workshop was to prepare young employees, undertaking a manager position. Particularly with regard to dealing with and leading employees, there was a desire to ensure that the contents could be applied immediately in practice. Given that the participants came together from different locations all over Germany, there should also be enough room for personal comments, practical cases as well as the development of possible solutions.
3. Format for participants (on-site)
The training took place on site - in a partner hotel, located directly next to the Kitzmann Institute. The course consisted of a fully interactive workshop with a high degree of participation while simultaneously providing the needed scientific basis. With the help of a discussion rounds, the participants also went through their own scenarios and everyday workplace issues in order to subsequently develop ideas for solving them in the future.
4. Results and a future prospects
The entire course was fully evaluated by the Kitzmann Institute. An evaluation was also carried out by the automotive supplier. All was considered a great success by everyone involved. The high level of interactivity, the theoretical foundation and the high practical approach were particularly appreciated. Furthermore, it was highly appreciated that there was also sufficient room for critical comments and topics to be exchanged in a respectful as well as results-oriented manner. The development of the managers is to be continued in the future.
