Background information on the subject of "speed reading"

Speed reading means goal orientation, time savings, and a new way of approaching professional texts. Whether named Speed Reading or Efficient Reading - fast reading means turning away from "normal" viewing habits and learning new methods of reading. In addition, the constructive approach to texts and demands on reading also conveys a change in perception.

Fast reading requires that so-called reading brakes are recognized and unlearned. The realization that the brain is neither utilized nor particularly stressed during normal reading opens up the readiness for new methods of seeing and perceiving. Reading techniques make it possible to perceive and read texts in a different way. Acquiring new techniques and constantly practicing them is a prerequisite for being able to practice fast reading in the long term.

Another technique is to change the way we approach texts. Asking oneself with what aim a text is to be read or what information it has to provide is a prerequisite for efficient reading work. This removes the resolution of trying to memorize everything and provides the brain with a welcome task for fast and efficient work. Fundamental to the work technique of fast reading is the willingness to engage with texts and, in addition, to create a work environment that allows concentrated work.

Because this is also a prerequisite for fast reading: Concentration and attention. While it is enough for some to design their atmosphere accordingly, others enjoy preparatory concentration tasks or strategic visual exercises. Being able to distinguish between reading and fast reading in the future expands the personal spectrum of action and creates a work technique that saves time and includes efficiency.
